Abstract

Purpose of Research. The article deals with the peculiarities of the composer’s style of the prominent contemporary composer L. Dychko in connection with the expression of dominant tendencies of the Orthodox culture, as one of the «genetic codes» of national consciousness and self-identification. The stylistic parameters and stylistic techniques that are characteristic of L. Dychko’s operatic art are revealed, the peculiarities of the composer’s musical language are determined. Methodology of the study is to apply historical, musicological analytic and performance approaches. The mentioned methodological direction allows to reveal and systematize the leading tendencies in the development of the opera genre of the end of the twentieth century on the example of the opera «Christmas Action» («Rizdviane Diistvo»). Scientific novelty is determined by the expansion of ideas about the possibilities of the opera genre and its genre variety — choral opera, relevance and demand of this genre in contemporary composer creativity on the example of L. Dychko’s opera. Conclusions. The appeal to contemporary opera creativity, to its bright, new and original models confirms the relevance, vitality of the opera genre, which is amplified by the ever growing interest on the part of composer creativity. This tendency makes it possible to comprehend peculiarities of national identity that are directly related to main massages of Orthodox culture.
