Abstract

Objective To explore the expression of death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1)in cervical carcinoma and cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia (CIN),initially investigate the relationship among DAPK1 expression and the clinical characters of the patients, then analysis the clinical significance. Methods Western blotting were used to examine the expression of the DAPK1 in the normal cervical tissue,CIN and cervical carcinoma. The relative density of the samples were examined by the high resolution pathological image analysis system (HPIAS).Results The expression of DAPK1 only can be examined in part of the CIN and cervical cancer, the relative density were 0.64 ± 0.04 and 0.36 ± 0.03 respectively and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05).The DAPK1 expressed in all the normal tissue (the relative density was 0.89 ±0.03),and it had a higher level expression than the CIN and cervical cancer tissues. The difference were statistically significant (P < 0.05).The expression of the DAPK1 in the cancer tissues with no lymph node metastasis (the relative density was 0.39 ±0.03) were significantly higher than the tissues with lymph node metastasis(0.16 ± 0.04),the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05).No relationship had been found among the expression of the DAPK1 and the age, tumor size. Conclusion The lower expression of DAPK1 may be involved in the development of cervical cancer; the DAPK1 gene may be associated with the cancer invasion and metastasis.
