Abstract

Objective To explore the expression and significance of adenosine di-phosphate (ADP)-ribosylation factor guanosine triphosph (GTP)-ase activating protein 1 (ASAP1) protein in papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods The expression levels of ASAP1 in 28 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues and adjacent normal thyroid tissues were detected by immunofluorescence, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR) and Western blotting. Results ASAP1 fluorescence signal in papillary thyroid carcinoma and adjacent tissues was mainly located in cytoplasm, the median fluorescence value of ASAP1 protein in thyroid papillary carcinoma was 202.50, and the median fluorescence value of adjacent tissues was 72.50, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P=0.000); the relative expression of ASAP1 mRNA (0.802±0.126) in papillary thyroid carcinoma was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal thyroid tissues (0.142±0.023) and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.000); the relative expression of ASAP1 protein was (0.697±0.138) in thyroid papillary carcinoma, which were over-expressed comparing with adjacent normal thyroid tissues (0.129±0.037) and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.000). Conclusion Over-expression of ASAP1 might play a key role in the papillary thyroid carcinoma.
