Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and its clinic significance of cerebral special protein (S100B) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) combined with encephalitis. Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to test S100B in CSF and serum in 30 cases of HFMD combined with encephalitis, 30 cases of HFMD, and 30 cases of normal controls. Results The expression level of S100B in CSF and serum of HFMD combined with encephalitis was higher than HFMD and normal controls, with significant difference(P<0.01). Conclusions S100B in CSF and serum has a certain clinical value for early diagnosis of HFMD combined with encephalitis. Key words: S100 proteins/BL/CF; Hand, foot and mouth disease/CO/BL/CF; Encephalitis/CO/BL/CF
