Abstract

Injury may result if the head is struck by a projectile (e.g., a nonlethal weapon or a sports ball), even if the projectile is of small mass and has a soft exterior. Some theory is available concerning the dependence of maximum force on the impact velocity and mass of the projectile. In light of that, comments are made on recently published data.
