Abstract

Talk for Writing was introduced into a Year 4 classroom throughout a three week planning sequence. Document analysis and questionnaires were employed and interviews with both the class teacher and the literacy co-ordinator were conducted. The research revealed the children became more confident writers during the study, and teachers adopted an autonomous attitude towards the initiative, picking and choosing elements which worked for them as individuals.
