Abstract

Medical school graduates are ready to take the responsibility of residency after systemic didactic knowledge infusion and bedside hands-on practice. Yet the challenges remain: what make a good resident after medical school In this article, the lead author tried to shed some light on this question by comparing her internship and observation experiences in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in UC Davis Medical Center and Peking University Third Hospital, meanwhile, relevant published literatures in this field are also reviewed, combining tutors’ years of teaching experience in obstetrics and Gynecology. We found that there are four principle qualities that make the residency training in OBGYN successful. These are teamwork, mutual trust, efficiency and diligence. These qualities are ever more critical today as the societal as well as professionally pressure for these young residents are mounting rapidly.
