Abstract

Objective To explore the effectiveness of the key-performance-indicator management model based on the integration of doctors and nurses. Methods The ward was divided into three medical groups, each group set up a medical leader and a nursing leader, three doctors and ten to twelve nurses.The department director and nurse leader formulated the key-performance-indicator management measures based on the integration of doctors and nurses and organize the implementation according to the hospital's overall goals and the discipline's plan of development. Result After the implementation of the key-performance-indicator management model based on the integration of doctors and nurses, the number of discharged patients increased by 260 cases, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The average length of stay was shortened by 159 days.The utilization rate of the hospital bed increased by 7.97%.The ratio of drug was decreased by 3.78%.The utilization of the antibiotic was decreased by 4.11%.Patients' satisfaction increased by 2.18 points, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of the quality of medical care was improved by 2.45 points, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusions The implementation of the key-performance-indicator management model based on the integration of doctors and nurses improved the utilization rate of the ward beds, reduced the proportion of drugs, reduced the antibiotic defined daily doses, and reduced the medical cost, improved the satisfaction of patients and their families.
