Abstract

Abstract Magnetic fluids have been studied for use as a high-voltage insulation. High-voltage measurements on magnetic fluids based on transformer oil, as a function of volume concentrations of magnetite particles and applied magnetic field, showed the increase of the DC dielectric breakdown strength opposite transformer oil, if the saturation magnetization of magnetic fluid is up to 4 mT approximately.
