Abstract

The following expressions 1, 2, 3 $${I_{{if}}} = K{\left( {V - {V_{i}}} \right)^{n}}{\kern 1pt} and{\kern 1pt} \left( 2 \right){\kern 1pt} {I_{{if}}} = const\left( {\frac{{V - {V_{i}}}}{{{V_{i}}}} - \ell n\frac{V}{{{V_{i}}}}} \right)$$ (1) have been presented by different authors for the variation of the intensity Iif of a radiative transition between an initial state i and a final state f, versus the excitation voltage V; K is a constant characteristic of the line and Vi is the ionization potential for the atomic level i.
