Abstract

A study of non-dispersive wave propagation in lumped systems is described, with reference to the development of experimental techniques for the measurement of system parameters. The work is concerned in particular with the study of structural/acoustic systems. Transient, rapid frequency sweep excitation is used and both correlation and spectral analysis techniques are considered. Single and multi-path delay systems with and without resonant elements are discussed and it is shown that with a suitable choice of excitation parameters, the system characteristics can be successfully deduced.
