Abstract

In the article the authors present the experience of using TA (Transactional Analysis) to identify discounting as a mechanism of psychological protection and describe the Discounting Matrix created by Ken Mellor and Eric Schiff (Sigmund) at the Cathexis Institute. The authors show their experience of using the Discounting Matrix in clinical practice. Also the article presents possible questions that might facilitate the diagnosis of levels of discounting in patients with eating disorders. The authors show the practical value of using this approach for subsequent psychotherapeutic treatment.
