Figure 2. Images of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) were acquired monthly for 3 months by using technetium-99m hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime ([Tc]HMPAO) SPECT in a patient with sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD), Heidenhain subtype. One month after symptom onset (left) there was clearly decreased rCBF in the frontal and left temporal cortices. Decreases were more widespread one month later (middle). By one month before death (right) rCBF was diminished throughout the cerebral cortex, particularly in the temporo-occipital regions (modified with permission from Staffen et al.)
