Abstract
Background and Aim: The transplacental routes of vertical transmission of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) has been known for over a decade. Although, several serological studies have reported the presence of HBV antigens in placenta, no study has documented placental replication of HBV yet. Here we present evidence which suggest HBV can replicate in placenta.
