Abstract

Over some five years, efforts have been made to develop the closed acute psychosis ward into a modern therapeutic community. Therapeutic excursions have formed one integral part of this development. Patient excursions have been either one-day visits to the surroundings of the hospital or longer trips. A successful excursion requires that the patients are carefully selected, and the staff has a good professional skill and moral. A trip is beneficial particularly for youngish patients with disorders graver than the neuroses.
