Abstract

The rare gas sensitized radiolysis of gaseous hydrogen chloride was performed, and the mechanism of the excitation transfer processes was investigated. It has been confirmed that at p R > 100 torr, the three body reactions (4) play the main role. The k 4 = 4.8 × 10 −28 cm 6 s −1 for R = Kr, Xe, and k 4 = 2.3 × 10 −28 cm 6 s −1 for R = Ar, as well as the relative rate constants of the collisional deactivation of the formed exciplex (RHCl) ∗ were obtained.
