Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to understand the evolution of the water regime in Italy over the last century, questioning whether the national water regime is moving towards an ‘integrated regime’ under the hypothesis that an ‘integrated regime’ should provide for a more sustainable use of water resources. More specifically, the research project aims at understanding the conditions and change factors under which water regimes evolve towards a higher level of integration, and towards a more sustainable use of water.
