Abstract

Historically, social work has assumed a generalist approach to practice. Such an approach involves a broad general knowledge base and skills in several disciplines, fields, etc. Evidence‐based practice (EBP) entails the exactness of scientific research. It is intended for the application of rigorous expertise to arrive at the most effective practice methods based upon objective research findings. The evolution of social work toward a more legitimate practice method can then be realised via the prescripts of EBP.
