Abstract
Summary:The operative elongation of limbs has long been a goal of orthopaedic surgeons. Indeed, the very first external skeletal fixators, although designed for stabilization of displaced fractures, were also used to overcome the posttrauma shortening that so commonly accompanies fracture deformities.
