Abstract

Using artificial intelligence, expert system in modeling, optimization, decision, and evaluation of large-scale environmental system has been an attractive problem. In our paper, we combine system analysis and expert system technique to build the environmental impacts evaluation system of large-scale water-conservancy and hydroelectric power projects. A modeling methodology is presented. It includes the structure of the environmental evaluation system, mathematics-knowledge (m-k) conceptual models (J.Z.Wu, 1988), expert system structure, explanation and decision consultation. Our research is based on the environmental impacts evaluation of the Changjiang River Three Gorge Project (A.S.1987).The evaluations of near hundred experts in different domains have been systematized. We use the method of knowledge acquisition to formalize the analysis, reasoning, and evaluation of experts, then build the evaluation system by expert system technique. The evaluation system can be used to evaluate environmental impacts of general large-scale water-conservancy and hydroelectric power projects.
