Abstract
The main subject of this article is the analysis of the possible improvement in the level of emission of harmful compounds by compression ignition engines fueled with bio-fuels. For this purpose rape oils processed to various extent were used – fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and unprocessed rape oil (URO) – the obtained results were referred to conventional fuel. The examination was carried out in two stages. Changes in the design parameters of nozzles used for fueling the engine with bio-fuels significantly affect the quality of spraying rape oils and thereby improve their indexes of emission. In connection with that, the influence of the number of orifices ir as well as their diameter do on emissions were examined in the article – this constituted the first stage of the examination. The second stage of the examination contains evaluation of influence of rapeseed oil and diesel fuel injection pressure on its combustion process. The results of examinations presented in this paper have confirmed a chance of an effective improvement in emission of harmful compounds formed while fuelling the compression ignition engine with bio-fuels.
