Abstract

A good mobile educational game should be developed using the right element of the game design as to give a positive impact to the user who use it for educational purposes. Designing an application that uses a mobile platform is not an easy thing to do. With the constraints on the size of the screen as well as the information that should be displayed, making the issue of the mobile educational design to be debated. Based on the multimedia development model that looks at the 3i design aspect of the interface, information and interaction, this paper discusses the findings of a mobile educational game focusing on Permutation and Combination topics for Linear Algebra and Discrete Mathematics subjects. For the completion of this research, PIE Model has been used throughout the process which consist of planning, Implementation and evaluation. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of the educational mobile game design which will be analysed by using the 3i design factors. This study has been conducted by involving a total of 35 respondents from computer science student who follow the subject of Linear Algebra and discrete mathematics in their studies. Apart from that, questionnaires related to the 3i design factor had been distributed after respondents used the mobile educational games application. The findings from the study show that mobile educational game designers should focus on the 3i design factors as it is suggested that the designed mobile game more meaningful to the users throughout the evaluation phase. In conclusion, the result of the educational mobile game usage which has been evaluated by using the construct in the 3i design factors show the positive effect on the users.
