Abstract

An approach to the analysis of preparative electrolysis data obtained for reaction sequences yielding multiple products is described. The method is particularly suited to galvanostatic electrolysis and generates quantitative information on a reaction model. The method is demonstrated using four examples: the chlorination of naphthalene, the dehydrodimerisation of diethyl malonate, the reduction of nitric oxide and the oxidation of 4-methoxy phenylacetic acid.
