Abstract

At the present time, Turkish container ports have large container terminals, where the highest traffic volume of the Europe has been achieved. Due to increasing volume of international trade, ports required to review their performances regularly in order to use their capacities optimally. Effectiveness and efficiency has become more and more important, when evaluating ports’ performances. Because of competitive and environmental effects on ports’ economical structure, they need to use their limited resources as efficient as they can. This paper the efficiency of ports and their corresponding container terminals, which have an positive impact to country and located region’s economical structure is analyzed. In order to measure terminal efficiency, inputs and outputs decisions have been based on operational efficiency. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been used, moreover, efficient and ineffcient ports have been decided relatively.
