Abstract

In order to better cultivate contemporary college students’ extracurricular English reading ability, improve their ability of independent learning after class, and adapt to the requirements of college English curriculum and teaching reform in the new era, this paper first analyzes the theories and technical support related to big data and the constructed independent learning model of extracurricular English reading based on big data, then implements an experiment by selecting some college students and dividing them into experimental group and control group. The final experimental results show that the independent learning model of English extracurricular reading based on big data helps to cultivate the improvement of students’ comprehensive English application ability, helps to improve students’ English performance, and also provides a new idea for the reform of English course teaching.
