Abstract

The millennium and the euro are not the only challenges coming up for IT and businesses. There is still a quite surprising unawareness of the extent of the forthcoming change in data protection, or data privacy, legislation. This article aims to tell the story from the beginning, and to set out the implications of implementing the European Union (EU) Directive “On the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, and on the free movement of such data”. It is an updated version of an article previously published by Zergo.
