Abstract

Directive 97/43/EURATOM on medical exposures strengthens the provisions of the 1984 directive (84/466/EURATOM). It also expands the scope of application to individuals other than patients. It introduces several new concepts such as quality assurance, clinical audit and acceptance and performance testing of equipment, etc. This directive is to be implemented in national law before 13 May 2000 at which date the 1984 directive will be repealed.
