Abstract

This paper presents a real-time simulation platform of a AC/DC hybrid system using embedded simulators as kernel components, where the power electronic transformer (PET) is established by VHDL to break through the limitation of maximum emulatable switches in MATLAB/Simulink. Other components in the hybrid system including DC/DC converter, DC/AC converter and renewable generation units are simulated on CPU computing units. High-speed communication interface is used to ensure microsecond-level simulation step. Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) tests are taken to validate the proposed simulation platform.
