Abstract

AbstractThe composition of the essential oil obtained from the dried flowering aerial parts of Hypericum scabrum L. (Hypericaceae) was analysed by GC and GC–MS. Eighty‐five components were identified in this oil. The major constituents of the essential oil were α‐pinene (45.3%), n‐nonane (5.6%) and thymol (5.3%). The essential oil of the flowering aerial parts of H. scabrum was rich in monoterpenoids. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
