Abstract
Environmental geology involves geologic problems encountered by the human colony in utilizing the physical environment and is most often practiced in metropolitan areas. In an attempt to distill from the literature the main ideas and concepts in urban environmental geology, more than 60 statements (quotations) were selected on urban geology, geologic hazards, engineering aspects of land use, urban resources, and geology and regional planning. These quotations have proven useful in developing a central theme and supportive material for lectures and could suggest research topics for student projects.
