The equivalent non-linear system method

Abstract

A new equivalent non-linear system method is presented for prediction of the random response of a nearly conservative system subject to white noise excitation. The equivalent system is obtained on the basis of the equivalence of the averaged system energy. Comparisons with digital simulation results for given examples show that the method yields a satisfactory approximate solution.
