Abstract

A study is made of the annual and diurnal variations of the equatorial anomaly in the Australasian Zone (between longitudes 105° and 150°E) during the low sunspot year of 1964. There appears to be strong evidence that the equatorial anomaly plays an important role in the propagation of long-range v.h.f. radio signals over trans-equatorial paths.
