Abstract

In order to explore and control the precipitation behaviour of Ti-Zr composite microalloyed low-carbon steel during multi-pass deformation, the precipitation form and orientation relationship of TiC and ZrC were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) in this paper. The results show that the initial precipitation of ZrC can form heterogeneous nucleation sites of TiC, and TiC particles will epitaxially grow on the surface of ZrC to form a gourd-like composite precipitate. Electron diffraction analysis shows that there are two main orientation relationships between TiC and ZrC, which are (200)TiC TiC//(200)ZrC ZrC, (020)TiC TiC//(020)ZrC ZrC.
