Abstract

Field trials, involving spring and winter wheat varieties, were artificially inoculated with spore suspensions of Septoria tritici Rob. ex Desm. where the spores were applied to the wheat heads. Head symptoms produced by S. tritici were totally different from those obtained with S. nodorum Berk. A method is described which provides a key for assessing the severity of S. tritici infection on the heads.
