Abstract

Summary o (1) The literature on Loffler's syndrome, tropical cosinophilia and related subjects is reviewed. It would appear that many diseases manifesting cosinophilia and transitory lung changes are related, and form narrow bands on a broad spectrum with asymptomatic Loffler's syndrome at one end, and deadly periarteritis nodosa at the other. (2) Over a three-year period, 24 cases of ‘the cosinophilic lung’, have been studied at the Coronation Hospital and 3 of these are reported. Although no cause was found in our series, ascariasis was the most common association.
