Abstract

The appropriate treatment of animal wastewater and manure achieved much attention because of its excess production, associated environmental concerns, and enriched resource value. In last few decades, a significant increase in the production of chickens, pigs, goats, cattle, and aquaculture is witnessed. Therefore, an increase in generation of animal wastewater and manure is also observed due to the expanded farms, slaughterhouses, and meat processing facilities. The excessive production of animal wastewater and manure is inevitable and has become a serious environmental issue throughout the world. Several biological, physical, and chemical technologies are known for the treatment of animal wastewater and manure and subsequently their conversion to the valuable products such as organic fertilizers and biogas. The enzymatic application in the treatment of animal wastewater and manure is appeared as an auspicious treatment technology. Enzymes are the natural and greatly effective catalysts that can accelerate the convention of target complexes without influencing others. This chapter details a brief discussion on the enzymatic application in the animal wastewater and manure treatment, emphasizing the efficiency, mechanism, and influence of enzymatic bioprocesses.
