Abstract

The turbulent enstrophy equation budget for a fully developed two-dimensional channel flow computed from a direct numerical simulation is compared to that for a flat plate boundary layer flow obtained experimentally. A close agreement is found between the comparable terms in the enstrophy equation suggesting that there probably is common behavior for the enstrophy budget in wall bounded flows.
