Abstract

NMRON single-passage and full-modulation data for 56Co, 57Co and 60Co in Fe are presented. The implications of these data are discussed in terms of the ensemble rotation concept. Using an analytical solution of the single passage problem for the pure magnetic interaction, the ensemble-rotation formalism is extended and compared with the predictions for an additional quadrupole-type mechanism. It is shown that the quadrupole-type mechanism may not account for the reduced full-modulation NMRON signal. Korringa constants for the Co isotopes are obtained using an ensemble rotation analysis of single passage data and these are compared.
