Abstract

Architectural objects pertaining to the Post-Constructivism and Soviet Neoclassicism periods of the 1930s in the city of Astrakhan are reviewed using as an example the buildings of the workers' settlement at the shipyard named after S.M. Kirov. Bibliographic studies and field surveys added further information to the study of the residential area developed near the largest shipbuilding enterprise of the USSR. Recently, documents have been found in a private collection confirming the suggestion that the Astrakhan architect N. N. Milovidov took part in the creation of this ensemble. They reveal new facets in the creative biography of this master.
