Abstract

Its etiology and pathogenesis are undetermined, its manifestations are extremely varied, and its course is often silent. Accurate diagnosis is thus a difficult task in sarcoidosis. Given a suspicious chest x-ray, diagnosis can be confirmed by a positive Kveim test and biopsy of affected tissue. Since the disease tends to regress spontaneously, therapy is directed primarily to suppression of symptoms.
