Abstract

This is a quantitative analysis of the lexical loan in two Mexican communities (Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, United States, and Moroleón, Guanajuato, México), using the Varbrul program to establish percentages of occurrence. Data were collected and analyzed following the traditional sociolinguistic interview format. Findings suggest that most migrant workers include English lexical loans in their speech as a way to separate themselves from the population that has not migrated to the United States.
