Abstract

From experiments in which we could separate the number of photons which can produce Compton electrons in a layer of 0.8 cm Pb from those which produce electron pairs, we could find both their absorption coefficients in lead. When we assume that the spectrum of the photons is an E − s spectrum we can calculate s below and above the critical energy p and we find s E< p = 1,25 and s E> p = 1,07.
