Abstract

The histology of the neurosecretory system of Galeruca tanaceti is described. By the use of four staining techniques different neurosecretory cell-types have been established. The occurrence, number, and staining affinity of the neurosecretory cells serve as a basis for further studies aimed at correlating the histological and morphometric changes of these neuroendocrine cells with the physiological phases of the adult beetle's life history. For the same reason, the histology of the corpus cardiacum/allatum has been studied.
