Abstract

AbstractThe polarized Cu Kβ2,5 valence band spectra of an oriented YBa2Cu3O7–δ sample measured on a Johann‐type X‐ray spectrometer, are presented. The experimental spectra are aligned in a binding energy scale together with calculated partial Cu pη DOS (η = x, y, or z), taken from the literature. Due to a detailed comparison between the spectra and the DOS features the distribution of occupied Cu p‐like states along the valence band of this high‐Tc superconductor, their symmetry and contribution to different CuO bonds can be discussed and explained in principle.
