Abstract

It is shown, on the basis of diamagnetic response measurements of Y1−xPrxBa2Cu3O7−δ (Y(Pr)BCO) specimens, that the fraction of superconducting phase is decreased sharply when increasing concentration of Pr atoms. Electronic structure of these compounds have been investigated. It is found that 4f2 states of Pr atoms lie at the Fermi level when substituting Y atoms, and change the hybridization relations between the states of different atoms.
