Abstract

Ferroelectric domain walls have been studied by means of electron microscopy in Bi 4Ti 3O 12. Two essentially different types of walls for which the polarization vectors enclose roughly 180° or 90°, can be distinguished on diffraction evidence. The c-plane, which is the main glide plane, contains ribbon dislocations. The two partials have the same Burgers vector. The stacking fault is associated with the electric polarization.
