Abstract

We consider the two-loop graphs for the electron's electric dipole moment that arise in an SU(2) × U(1) gauge theory with CP-violating two-doublet (neutral) Higgs sector. We identify and compute the additional graphs, beyond the top-loop and W-loop-related contributions considered by Barr and Zee, that yield non-zero contributions. These have the same sign as the t-loop graphs, whereas the W-loop-related graphs have the opposite sign. Combining all graphs at large tan β yields a relatively small electron electric dipole moment, even when CP violation is maximal, unless one of the neutral Higgs boson masses is of order m w or lighter and all other neutral Higgs bosons are much heavier.
