Abstract

The ambient temperature cathodic electroreduction characteristics of cathode limited LiSOCl 2 cells have been investigated at discharge rates up to 170 mA cm −2 and over a possible working concentration range. The effect of varying cathode thickness on both the passivation times and polarization curves are discussed. The effect of discontinuous passivations on the overall passivation time have been investigated and are discussed in relation to the nature and mobility of the passivating layer.
