Abstract

In this work, the high-quality protonated Ni-doped MnO2 (H–Ni–MnO2 NRs) nanorods with a mean diameter of about 15 nm were synthesized by a hydrothermal method, which was successfully applied to Cs+ adsorption under electrochemical process. The as-prepared H–Ni–MnO2 NRs showed high selectivity to Cs+ adsorption in both acidic and neutral media. In particular, the amount of Cs+ adsorption increased with increasing solution pH. The adsorption capacity of H–Ni–MnO2 NRs for Cs+ could reach up to 11.5 mmol·g−1 at pH 7, much higher than previous reports (0.06–6 mmol·g−1). The high adsorption of H–Ni–MnO2 NRs ability could be attributed to their especial morphology, Ni doping, and Mn(III) amount enhancement induced by electrochemical reduction.
