Abstract
A solution of the plane-isotropic elasticity problem of an internally stressed elastic strip with either free or fixed boundaries is developed on the basis of the Muskhelishvili's method. It provides the algorithm for a computer program yielding the image field as a perturbation of the bulk field. The procedure allows us to analyze elastic models of defects and inhomogeneities when bulk solutions are no longer applicable due to the proximity of surfaces or interfaces. As examples of application, the problems of a strip loaded by a concentrated force, and of the interaction between an edge dislocation and a dilatation centre in a strip, are investigated.
